Thread: Boot stalls before graphic login, but VTs are OK


i upgraded 11.10 recently, , good. wanted take @ gnome3, installed that, although had problems gnome ui's text display on startup, went away after resizing fonts larger , normal.

played around little tweak app, shut down. now, won't boot login prompt. stalls on test (screen says it's checking state of battery or similar, not laptop).

can virtual terminals , log in, or can ctrl-alt-del , restart.

suggestions on go here? installed fresh partition, nice fix instead of spending time reconfiguring, since plan new drive , reinstall then.

can help.

if can virtual terminal able system log files. here interesting ones may contain more info on hangs:
- /var/log/dmesg
- /var/log/xorg.0.log
- /var/log/syslog
- .xsession-errors in home folder
