Thread: Custom keymap for wireless keyboard doesn't work

hi

bought wireless key board works fine (rapoo), function keys f1-12 accessible after pressing orange key. default behaviour of keys multimedia keys.

in regular setup (no wireless keyboard) have several programs , shortcuts mapped on function keys in kde settings (zoom etc). when using wireless want map multimedia keys f1-12 can use latter without pressing key.

run xev , see key codes pressed multimedia keys on wireless keyboard. eg key want point f1, shows keycode 179. edit .xmodmap , enter

keycode 179 = f1

, run

xmodmap .xmodmap

seems work: when press key on wireless keyboard, keycode 67 appears, same 1 f1. buttttt, mapped f1 custom command in kde : on normal keyboard, pressing f1 starts editor. pressing f1 on wireless keyboard *nothing*.?!?!

no worke.

suggestions?........

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
