Thread: GRUB Problems....Manual Install?

is possible manually install grub? unable install during ubuntu 11.10 install.

following error:

"executing' grub-install/dev/sda'"
fatal error

and know why:

root@ubuntu:/# grub-install /dev/sda
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: embedding area unusually small. core.img won't fit in it..
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: embedding not possible. grub can installed in setup using blocklists. however, blocklists unreliable , use discouraged..
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: error: not proceed blocklists.
root@ubuntu:/#


advice?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
