after installing ubuntu server on used server got xmas, runs smoothly until installation finished. when remove usb stick start hdd error message shows

"mountall disconnected plymouth"
and thats all, here system halts. guy gave me said might have faulty disc controller. server doesnt contain other disc controller placed on motherboard. there way check out or replace part, , possible buy new dc highpoint rocket 620 2p sata iii , if is possible plug , play ?

hdd 1 used in old computer know works properly. ive tried reinstalling ubuntuserver , flashing bios, same error message shows up. ideas ?

i have highpoint controller doesn't have native linux support (i.e. must use driver instead of 1 kernel). if had again i'd buy else.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
