Thread: permissions question


i have backup drive (spare hard drive) automatically mounted /media/backup upon system bootup. want user account have access /media/backup directory. created user account called guest. however, when log in guest, has full access /media/backup. not want guest have access directory, because contains backup of personal documents. root owner of /media/backup. terminal command need use deny access guest user account? imagine command begin "sudo chmod" not sure should follow.

chmod 700 lock down owner (root).

chmod 770 lock down owner , whoever's in group.

big question is: guest in same group main account? if is, there's way change it, don't know is.
