Thread: Php font supporting languages supported by facebook

facebook supports many languages. listed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/facebook_features

developing facebook app in php displays status updates of facebook users in image (using php gd).

not know how gather support languages. (i.e. not want square boxes appear in image generated facebook app when app not recognize characters). want native language characters in image generated facebook app.

there font supports languages? or there other way build kind of support? stomped!! plz help.

there used all-encompassing font (arial-unicode?). however, have been told allthough cjk languages (chinese/japanese/korean) share ideograms, design of characters in fonts used in each country/region(*) quite different, , using single font support them produces equivalent of random mix of serif, sans-serif , monospace, or worse, arial , yeoldeenglishe. therefore better use language/region-specific fonts.

(*) in politically-correct user interfaces (those used software houses want sell in continental china), taiwan cannot appear country choice country/region choice.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
