Thread: Proxy on a company network with username and password?

i have tried several times use apt-get function in terminal behind proxy on work, doesn work.

tried in /etc/bash.bashrc file , /etc/profile:

http_proxy=http://domain\\username@company.com: password@proxy.company.com: port/

cant make connection through.. ideas?

tried because there no kind of gui can add proxy , password , username, proxy , port in ubuntu.

(sorry, have bad english, hehe, hope u understand)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
