Thread: Ubuntu doesn't shut down properly and subsequently boots at runlevel 2

i have dell optiplex 745 running fine - started *not* shutting down (it gets stuck on ubuntu shutdown screen , hangs there long let it). when power machine off manually then, (of course) boots in runlevel 2 - means none of web services server (apache2, etc) enabled. help! need figure out why system isn't shutting down anymore?

solved own problem - running app called sequenceserver , didn't shut down properly; blocking entire system shutting down.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
