Thread: Where is the kill applet?

from time time have program misbehave, or perhaps misused or perhaps miswritten - , freeze up. there used 'instant kill' drop on top panel allowed single click clean mess. there alternative under unity? or way make 'indicator applet'?

want kill something!

since unity doesn't use gnome-panel, there of course isn't such gnome-panel applet around more.

make indicator, quite complex solution when there simpler ones around. create launcher instead, point command "xkill" , should have same functionality kill applet provided. (and of course can add keyboard shortcut xkill if prefer way)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
