Are some functions disabled in Elements 11 trial version?

i have elements 11 trial version. "create new layer" function doesn't work. why?

in trial version of photoshop elements, the features there, allowed try 30 days. button not working, make sure pressing "new layer" button , not else. if doesn't work, see new layer button works in menus @ top of window. i'm not sure menus located under since running photoshop cs6 extended. make sure have picture open first before try adding new layers.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
