Can't update or re-install flash player on Mac 10.6.8 safari 5.1.9

hi got message today saying needed install latest edition of flash player when went check on youtube said "player being blocked" downloaded version 11.7.7.700.169 installed 95% got jammed tried installing many more times same result 95% tried un-installing flash player doing same again still same result have checked in safari preferences enabled appreciated i'm stumped many thanks

obviously everyones stumped me haha

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
