Thread: Installing Ubuntu via netboot

hi, i'm trying install ubuntu on network windows machine. it's old laptop has broken install of freebsd on , refuses boot cd drive , can't boot usb. tried following tutorials seem outdated. know of step step guide doing this?

appreciated.

edit: managed find files on network , installer runs when choosing mirror download gives me option us.archive.ubuntu.com , cannot change it. mirror gives me "bad archive mirror" error.

edit2: solved (sort of?) after trying 50 mirrors tried check network components option 5th or time, except decided different first 4. after entering ip,subnet yadayada seems working well.

i think you'll need put more detail of you're trying do, pcs involved, how connected, got installer files from, , forth.
@ moment, there oddities in first paragraph don't understand, , subsequent edited notes compounding problem (eg scope of the network)

sorry

edit: glad see resolved issue , posted while typing
