Thread: MacbookPro2,2 jumpy trackpad

hi, installed ubuntu 11.10 on macbookpro2,2 (which challenge itself) , seems working well.

biggest annoyance right trackpad seems inaccurate , jumpy. specifically, seems alternate between moving slow , @ short intervals while mousing around. effect pointer snapping invisible grid, makes accurately hitting buttons tedious.

trackpad smooth silk in mac os.

here's image of happens when attempt draw straight lines in gimp @ various angles. i'm doing sliding finger across pad smoothly. result staircase looking line if draw diagonally think best illustrates problem:

can see, i'm able draw perfect horizontal , vertical lines because pointer snapped in place, when draw diagonal lines, bets off.

if had guess, might have fact trackpad on model in wide aspect ratio, , driver stretching sensor area somehow introducing jaggedness.

have ideas on how fix this?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
