Thread: New to Ubuntu , and just cant get sound.

so installed today , far m happy.... except cant sound. have been @ day , still have no sound. m coming t o community help.
have gateway gt4024 (it old know)the sound card gather ati ixp sb400 hd. running ubuntu 11.10. if 1 can me thanks.

first thing try install pavucontrol, , make sure slides set 100%.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
