Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 freezes random and restarts

hi , evening,

let me straight point: installed ubuntu 11.10 dualboot windows vista on older dualcore pc, somehow ubuntu keeps crashing 4 or 5 times week. system freezes , restarts without showing kind of error message. windows vista still works fine (or @ least fine windows vista ever work..). familiar problem or knows possible solution?

pc specs:

processor : 2x intel(r) core(tm)2 cpu 6400 @ 2.13ghz
memory : 1024mb (446mb used)
operating system : ubuntu 11.10

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
