Unable to import Office docs

when try create pdf combining files pdf, error message saying file type not supported. when @ "about plugins" in help, says convert2adobepdf plugin not loaded. have uninstalled , reinstalled software, still not load. how can load, since have 200 word files combine 4 pdf's!

what type of files trying import? have applications installed on computer you're trying combine? necessary in order combine work.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
