difficult to read ebook on different pc

hi, have installed , activated ade 2.0 on pc with windows 7 , on pc with windows xp, to read an ebook purchased kobo on both pcs. however, while i can read well,  in first pc, the character with which the text written, on the second pc can not read (although i can open the ebook), because is as if the character was poorly written, poorly defined (with few pixels). can tell me what depends on? thanks

there font size button top right of ade?  have got set small on 1 machine?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
