Thread: 11.10: nvidia GPU DISASTER, no failsafeX, pleas HELP

well, there's more 1 thread out there this, im getting desperate create new 1 anyway.

im running dualboot ubuntu/winxp , use lcd-tv monitor. installed new gpu: nvidia geforce gt 430.

@ time running 10.04, couldn't driver nvidia-current work. unistalled , ran system without [nouvau instead?].

after reading thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...gt+430+drivers figured if upgraded 11.10, working driver.

running upgrades 10.10 , 11.04 went ok long used recoverymode access failsafex. when upgraded 11.10 disaster struck: if boot normally, terminal mode login keyboard doesn't comply, running recovery mode doesn't me there, stuck in terminal process , doesn't prompt.

thinking of getting live 11.10 usb rescue system, after reading thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...gt+430+drivers hopes of success low.

im getting shattered problem cause have data on system need recover soon. have pointers? should 10.10 or 11.04 live distro instead? or there other workaround? appreciated...

ok, somehow terminal mode root when boot recoverymode. never seem learn terminal unfortunately.

question: want launch failsafex terminal-mode when im root. can done? can post terminal-code in such case? im no terminal...

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
