Thread: application menu in wrong corner of screen when using xinerama and "span monitors"
hi
upgrade ubuntu 11.10 found myself forced find new destop environment work with. don't want start discussion on unity , gnome3 now, much: have 4 screens on 2 nvidia cards , both unity , gnome3 don't seem cope that, technically (there no compositing available xinerama) or visually (my personal opinion)
luckily found xubuntu turned out astonishing nice , clean desktop environment , having used ubuntu gnome 2 years felt @ home.
however, have problem upper pannel though.. further explain, here how have 4 screens aligned:
now upper panel default sits on screen 1 , fills screen entirely. in gnome used stretched across both screen 1 , screen 2.code:+---------------+----------------+ | | | | screen 1 | screen 2 | | | | +---------------+----------------+ | | | | screen 3 | screen 4 | | | | +---------------+----------------+
found option in panel properties called "span monitors" that. comes problem: that, actual menu application menu button located in upper left corner of screen 1 appears on right edge of screen 1 rather underneath button on left side of screen.
same true if enable application grouping in application bar. click on application button have several windows of same application open, menu on right edge of screen 1 rather underneath application button.
i'm sorry can't post screnshot.. somehow doesn't seem take screenshots when application menue opened![]()
far workaround have added additonal panel screen 2 added clock , things, of course prefer have 1 panel across both screens gives more space window buttons.
have idea how resolve issue?
regards
pascal
