Thread: Flash - Overheating issues

i have heat problems dell notebook.

everythin seems fine until start watching videos i.e. on youtube. watching these videos minutes increase temperature of notebook. hot, cant touch bottom of notebook few seconds because hot. ~60°c or 110°c+ on graphics card chip.

think graphics card in combination flash. can avoid problem?

there several quick ways improve laptop cooling.


  1. buy laptop cooler work computer. have fans designed cool laptop, others elevate laptop internal fans can suck in air cool inside of system. depends on computer on route go. there varying degrees of coolers can buy, basic ones allow laptop cool easier, expensive ones meant cool gaming systems (usually 3 high speed fans @ minimum).
  2. make sure fan in computer clean of dirt , dust. require open laptop, find fan, , use can of air clean out dirt, etc, may there. may need use q-tips clean dirt. makes big difference in overall temperature. can go youtube , find video's of computer repair men taking air hoses inside of computers automatically turn off due heat. after cleaning, work again.
  3. you may want replace heat sink compound on processor while in there, if has been while ("a while" relative, if use laptop often, year "a while").

if find lot of dirt or dust inside system, replace old heat sink compound, , buy decent laptop cooler - can reliably decrease temperature of system 10 degrees c @ minimum. when did items 1 & 2 on desktop, temperature decreased 6 degrees c, , didn't have lot of dust.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
