i have installed ubuntu 11.10 on desktop pc, ibm thinkcentre a50p. have following questions:

(1) in ubuntu desktop screen access help?

(2) how open terminal window?

(3) "workspace": seems can not open same application in multiple workspace; example, if open firefox window in workspace a, switch workspace b , try open firefox window, screen jump workspace a. same goes libreoffice applications.

need in order able open multiple firefox sessions in multiple workspaces?

(4) installed vlc ubuntu software center. go find it?

(5) inserted music cd cd-rw drive , pops application selection menu , selected vlc play cd; how switch different cd player application?

(6) how access list of installed applications ubuntu desktop?

(7) installed ubuntu 11.10 dual-boot option. in which-to-boot-from screen, however, top selection line reads "ubuntu linux 3.0.0 ..." something. why?

1) hit super (windows key) , type "help"
2) ctrl-alt-t, or super , type "terminal"
3) right click , select "new window"
4) super, , type "vlc"
5) open other application, , play cd in it. if have music file, can right click on , select "open with" , choose app.
6) super, click on installed applications
7) that's kernel version. linux kernel commonly updated while you're on 1 system, too, prepared see lot of entries.
