Thread: ubuntu black screen 11.04

installed ubuntu 11.04 on acer aspire 5732z , not boot. after grub menu black screen. have spent last 2 hours researching issue , seems big issue 11.04. far have tried pressing "e" @ grub menu , replacing "quiet splash" "nomodeset" fails boot when that. cannot load.

saw large thread on how fix issue considering i'm new @ using linux don't understand half of stuff in thread.

computer has integrated intel video card. advice on how working (keep in mind you're dealing noob here ) appreciated.

dont replace, add it:
quiet splash nomodeset

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
