Thread: Unsure how to remove Ubuntu

i installed ubuntu 11.10 while along side windows 7 using instructions ubuntu site found here: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download

used while, , enjoyed (mainly faster cold boot , getting i'm ubuntu user , getting weird looks), time gradually got tired of , have decided i'm best off windows 7 rather dealing complications of having 2 os's on 1 computer (more 1 computer different story).

problem don't know how rid of out putting windows install @ risk. if knows safest way take off thankful.

first of, have windows installation cd or recovery cd? if have neither must create recovery cd windows tools in system settings -> backup & restore , there on left click second option. need insert empty cd-r in drive , can create following instructions on screen.
----------------------------------------------------

after made recovery cd click start, rightclick on computer , choose tab "manage". on window pops choose diskmanagement. should see partitions on hard drives.select drive ubuntu installed , rightclick , delete partitions have no name (at top no name) no filesystem displayed (see screenshot)

note may have swap partition. should equal or bit larger ram, have no name. delete without name. after deleted them, rightlick on partition shrunk before installing ubuntu use free space again (or make partition storage, you).
-----------------------------------------------------

ubuntu has been deleted, there still remains of grub. rid of those, pop in recovery cd made, boot , choose "startup repair" when window appears. wait until done , reboot.

uninstall successful
