Videos colors appear black in timeline but are OK when video is played from the Project Assets

adobe premiere elements 11

windows 7 64bit

i3 3.8ghz

8gb memory

ati radeon hd2600 video card

 

when add video , run project assets looks fine, add timeline colors wash out , lot of black colours should be, have tried adding video using right-click 'insert timeline', works still see distortment of colours when play, have tried export in case preview issue see get.

i have had chance play around videos , find if import originals (.mov) not have these problems, had converted them mp4 embedded html5 pages, seems there either issues mp4's or encoding.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
