Creating outlined text using filters

about month ago experimenting applying filters text. managed make background black , text converted white outline. believe did using artistic/watercolor. made series of 5 images using process , can't recreate effect. did not use strokes or of other common ways of creating outline text: quite accidental , done entirely filters. below sample. idea how recreate this?sample.jpg

find edges , inverting might work.

 

if may ask: why want filter might more done layer styles?

and if may add: why did not use smart filter?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
