Publishing my site takes over 24hrs, why?
publishing site updates had been taking 10~12 hrs 30~40 pages. i've update menus every page needs loaded - it's taking on 24 hrs , i've had stop load process i'm afraid it's burn out laptop. seems ridiculously long in day , age (i have cable modem not dial up!).
the command goes through "exporting page ..." sequence without delay (about 59% of "publish" sequence). goes holding pattern (this few hours initially, 9~12 hrs half site, , it's on 24hrs , counting).
prior last update site can seen @ towersgolde.businesscatalyst.com; understand 3 level menu part of delay (cutting , pasting each time take minute or two), shouldn't long publish.
i'm losing lot of time/money , it's frustrating deal with.
please go menu in muse , join private beta program.
there 2 steps muse takes when updating site. first muse generates files that's changed , second performs upload server.
i expect file encountering 2 different performance bugs in muse 4.x during export step. 1 triggered having multiple text frames multiple states on 1 or more master pages. bug manifests muse taking inordinate amount of time during "finalizing html export" step. other result of having "all pages" menu on every page in site lot of pages (>50). second bug far less severe first, can result in each page taking minute or more, on 100+ page size adds up.
i exported site (90 pages , 900+ images) local folder in 40 minutes using beta 4 of muse 5.0, available members of private beta program. (note 40 minutes not include time upload step, part of process solely dependent on connection speed. expect exceptionally slow performance seeing during export step.)
on separate note. site appears contain significant number of jpeg images have been saved very high quality settings. if image not resized, cropped or otherwise altered in muse original file passed through during export/upload/publish. many of images resulting in files 5 times larger need be, or should be, use on website (and pages load 5 times slower could). example 900x500 songdot.jpg exporting 691k. same image saved using save web photoshop default quality setting 152k. site generating 160+mb of image data. site 90 pages, that's lot of image data. resaving images lower quality settings improve page load performance site visitors.
