Putting a symbol on a 3-d object

what reasons why created wont show on 3-d object. made graphic symbol not show on object when select in map art. on correct layer. create small symbol, box or simple path show up. symbol creating large? thing happening of show if make 3-d object invisable. why these 2 things happening?

nobody can tell without seeing screenshots , knowin ga lot more details liek exact 3d effect settings or how symbol constructed.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
