Thread: Hardy Heron Workspaces and Cursor Glitches

have 2 problems. i'm software (os) related. running ubuntu hardy heron on dell inspiron mini (netbook).

first problem that, when typing, cursor jumps around , erases text. true text input, whether in google docs “in cloud” or openoffice text doc on desktop.

second problem when in workspaces, virtual desktops flip , forth.

of guys have solution other os re-install?

regretably, doubt if receive assistance here ubuntu 8.04 hardy heron (desktop) reached end-of-life on may 12, 2011 , no longer supported.

p.s. try running "live" version of ubuntu cd or usb confirm if problem hardware or software related.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
