Thread: How to synchronize or update copied documents

i may not calling operation right name. anyway, have libreoffice calc ledger want hold on both desktop , on laptop taters. (that way, when i'm away home, can update ledger expenditures, , remain date.)
issue synchronizing them. now, way know how boot both taters, painstakingly go through most-recently-used copy of ledger, copy new items it, , type them other copy of ledger. may have made unique entries in both copies of ledger, means have painstaking , identify unique in each copy, copy lines , forth. ugh.
there way computers can communicate, compare ledger copies, copy unique items in copy 'a' copy 'b' , unique items in copy 'b' copy 'a' automatically?

i'm using oneiric ocelot.

after reading first half of post tempted either suggest cloud service such ubuntu 1 (https://one.ubuntu.com/) or tools rsync. however, after reading rest of post realized need kind of diff functionality libreoffice calc. unfortunately, not aware of such tool.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
