Thread: Problem loading Blender


hello, firstly, i'm new please go easy! i've installed ubuntu 11.10 (dual boot windows 7,) on new dell xps l502x (intel core i5-2410m, 500gb hdd partitioned, 100mb ubuntu), 4gb ram, nvidia geforce gt 525m 1gb ddr3, not sure what's relevant problem?). seems work fine (although icons system settings keep disappearing, anyone?), downloaded gimp no problem , have downloaded blender 2.58, appears in launcher won't start. thing happens when click on icon flashes. when try launching terminal -

xlib: extension "glx" missing on display ":0".
/build/buildd/blender-2.58-svn37702/intern/ghost/intern/ghost_windowx11.cpp:194: x11 glxqueryversion() failed, verify working opengl system!
initial window not find glx extension, exit!


have downloaded blender site, still won't launch. have found similar questions on here old, , nothing far has helped. don't have enough memory allocated ubuntu?

ideas , appreciated!

do have nvidia's drivers installed graphics card? , computer use optimus switch between integrated gpu , nvidia one?

error missing glx telling system isn't able handle opengl graphics...
