Thread: problems with 3d and compiz

hi, have installed ubuntu 11.10 after lot of trouble, because win 7, anyway im telling because maybe problem, after getting done partitions, , installation , clean close of win 7, install ubuntu grub bootloader didnt run aparently couldnt written on win 7 bootloader managed install ubuntu on external hardrive, after grub written errors, , got msg there no boomgr.sys, used live cd , found page similar error, soo reinstalled grub , worked, after tried install compiz, didnt work removed apps manager , updated ubuntu , drivers, installed external-pack of apps, , tried install again compiz, anyway not work properly, im here, have on machine..

dual boot ubuntu 11.10 , win 7,
vaio computer intel (r) core(tm) i5 cpu (aparently 64 arch) m540 2..53 ghz
ram 4 gb 3.68 usable
intel graphics media accelerator hd
nvidia geforce gt 330m
flat scrren 1920 x 1080 60 hz

tried run game (gltron cycles) or , couldn't aparently installed properly, , tried comprobate use of 3d card command glx,... or not sure, foun page on net, instead getting output of yes got 10 or 15 errors messages, suspect 3d card not working properly, im totally noob on this, can orient me little or refer me web page read ubuntu or linux commands pls lot, more powerfull os windows, im holding cuz im total noob on this...

the nvidia/intel graphics optimus seems still kindof tricky. if have option disable intel graphics in bios, might help, i've never messed it.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
