Greyed out Filters and 8bit/channel

i finished editing panorama in adobe photoshop elements 11 , want add filter it, however, filters greyed out. not that, 8bit/channel option greyed out. picture rgb/8. please me figure out!

after photomerge panorama finishes, layers selected below

if press shift+ctrl+alt+e (shift+cmd+option+e on mac) merge layers new layer on top of layer stack , filters should work.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
