Missing Storke functions on CS6 Illustrator

i seem missing stroke functions such creating dash lines etc, have latest version of cs6 illustrator don't understand why missing have stroke weight (see image below). @ first thought because of changed , effect no longer there read forums , seems everywhere.

 

help please.

the stroke panel has menu. use "show options"

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
