Thread: Is there a firewall with Ubuntu 11.10?


hi first post, installed ubuntu 11.10 on laptop few days ago.

question is: when install ubuntu cd there firewall added installation? student on open university website forum said 'a firewall not added installation ubuntu'. read in book is, can put me right on this?

if there indeed firewall included tell me how find in gui? check turned on.

did download firestarter firewall not find out how switch on, found out had disabled wireless broadband connection. re-inserted ubuntu mirror image cd , did clean installation on first 1 , got broadband connection back.

have got virgin broadband connection if helps.

there firewall installed default, it's not on. 'ufw' command line firewall.

if want install gui frontend it, install 'gufw' software center or in terminal:
