can see, have windows, ubuntu, , bunch of swaps. became aware of mess because wanted triple-boot, adding 12.04 alpha. obviously, there's no click , go button setting triple-boots in installer, had @ manual option. i'm doing fun/out of curiosity, , don't have important data lose. don't mind booting in 11.10 installer again, deleting swaps, ext4, , installing clean. do, however, want learn partitioning scheme can have win7, 11.10, , 12.04 alpha. can have shared partition in there too, can access/save files os? btw, windows partition 150gb, wouldn't mind shrinking it. while wait, i'll boot in , see space have.
in advance guidance.![]()
no need that. boot livecd or usb , run gparted, same partition editor installer uses. right click on any/all of swaps have little key symbol on them , "swapoff". can go ahead , delete 1 of them , give space other partitions.
once you're booted linux can edit file /etc/fstab remove reference swap partitions no longer have. edit file:
leaving entries in won't cause b0rkage, it's tidier rid of them.code:gksudo gedit /etc/fstab
yes, best filesystem ntfs, both linux , windows play nicely ntfs.can have shared partition in there too, can access/save files os?
people keep /home on separate partition. doing can make reinstalling simpler, although it's less crucial used be. different linux installs can share /home partition, long use different user accounts on each system.
