Thread: startup sound not working

hi,

did 2 clean installs of ubuntu 10.11, 1 on dell laptop , on pc. appears work ok except minor issue on pc - cannot startup sound working.

upon checking config noticed start sound played canberra-gtk-play options of --id="desktop-login" --description="gnome login" works fine on laptop not work on pc.

reinstalled canberra-gtk-play on desktop without success. however, can play sound running canberra-gtk-play option --file=<path sound file> plays login sound.

appears login event not recognized in desktop installation reason.

idea issue here? of course, using workaround of specifying file pathname directly nice not having this.

thanks.

in case else faced problem solution copy sound files /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo /usr/share/sounds
