Thread: Trouble making screen resolution change persistent

hello all,

brand new ubuntu , far has been exciting frustrating learning experience. happen have intel integrated graphics , apparently ubuntu not super friendly intel integrated graphics.

have been able change screen resolution native screen resolution using following xrandr commands:

code:
xrandr --newmode "1280x768_60.00" 79.50 1280 1344 1472 1664 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode vga1 1280x768_60.00 xrandr --output vga1 --mode 1280x768_60.00
in order make these changes persistent have copied them /etc/gdb/gdbinit file. restarted computer, , received bunch of error messages saying os not make screen resolution work. copy , pasted commands 1 @ time terminal make sure code had left in gdbinit file good. copied first line

code:
xrandr --newmode "1280x768_60.00" 79.50 1280 1344 1472 1664 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync
and executed fine. entered next line in

code:
xrandr --addmode vga1 1280x768_60.00
and not did execute, upon entering screen automatically re-sized correct resolution. strange me because os new supposed in resolution mode ¨280x768_60.00¨, mode did not add correctly gdbinit file. cannot figure out why work when entered terminal did not work when executed gdbinit file.

has wrestled problem? appreciated.
