dont have curves options under layer>new adjustment layer in pse 10

please help! cannot find curves option! not under layers>new adjustment layer in pse10

there no curves adjustment layer in pse. there kind of curves if go enhance>adjust color>adjust color curves. there's free curves adjustment layers in both grant's tools:

and inexpnsive elements+ simplephotoshop.com has them, both crippled adobe's disabling of underlying features @ deep level since pse 4. if use windows, many people prefer free smartcurve easyfilter:

(no mac equivalent, alas)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
