How do I fix inconsistent formatting in a drop down text field (value)?

i working form in livecycle , form has variety of form fields. problem having position of text in value fields of of drop down box fields not consistent. have tried figure out possible differences might causing getting no where. when cut , paste field text positioning not consistent (see example 1)

 

am missing formatting field somewhere controls this?

are resizing dropdown or using default size?  what's font , font size?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
