is there a way to cut down on loading time by compressing image file size

hi have been trying build weeb page giving me considerable loading time when check upload file zilla of upload time seems coming photos.

im saving images png becuase of thier abilty save portions of photo transparant , not white background im getting lot of loading time wonder if because

im using png. , not saving swf. file iv heard of people using edge. thing cant save swf photoshop cs6 wheres option that.

so yah think main issue do cut down on loading time adding large  or many images edge file or html.

you shoud 2 things

 

first - resize image size of div photoshop or program can you

 

second - better save image jpg small image , load time 10 times faster

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
