Thread: Alternative to Update Manager?

i have installed ubuntu 11.10 3 months after release. install had run without internet connection because have slow , expensive (usb modem) broadband.

update manager reminding me 350 updates waiting downloaded , installed, short of 400 mb. well, cannot it. , pick , install pain in anatomy.

i'm looking alternative update manager or tweak update manager following additional features:

- software not installed not listed.
- sofware can locked , when locked not listed.
- entries can tagged/untagged in 1 swoop.

welcome forum.
synaptic alternative, ubuntu software center. installed default in earlier versions (imho unfortunately) replaced since 11.10 ubuntu software center.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
