Thread: how to single-click desktop icons to run them


hi, there setting changes method of executing desktop icons double-click single click? want make computing experience easier on folks.

because of simple, thought out design eliminates unnecessary waste of time things done, xubuntu has been linux distribution of choice install on family , friends computers in need of energy. but, 1 annoyance double-clicking of icons on desktop run them.

if icon runs large application there no way know if double-click successful. folks click slowly, others fast. wastes time when wait , wait, click 3 of 4 times try , application run ...and find out several instances of application opening in sequence dismay of xubuntu user.

1 stupid method xfce destop environment (and hence xubuntu) employs 'double-click' method. why??

majority of times if user wants perform action on desktop icon, want run it. should simple single click. if want else icon, such move it, @ properties, or make adjustment, should single alternate click (right-click) followed side-menu. how user make recommendation improvement xfce? thanks

on ubuntu 11.10, wish can accomplished opening nautilus window (such home), going edit > preferences > behaviour , choosing "single click open objects"...i believe can find similar on xubuntu
