Thread: howto remove libreoffice and reinstall openoffice

hi ubuntu community:

i'm running 10.04.

having trouble openoffice morning... big trouble!

so, followed instructions @ http://www.ubuntugeek.com/install-li...using-ppa.html remove openoffice , install libreoffice.

guess what? libreoffice not open .docx files!

how remove libreoffice , reinstall openoffice?

tryied synaptic, couldn't find way it.

good morning.

should easy task. remove libreoffice, remove ppa, install openoffice.

1: remove libreoffice packages software centre.

2: in software centre, go edit -> software sources. in other software tab, remove or untick libreoffice entries. exit software centre.

3: in terminal, run following...

code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install openoffice
this should work. on mobile device right now, apologize if missed or vague. feel free ask further assistance

also, recommend grabbing libreoffice official site. has ms office compatibility enhancements on openoffice. ppa never worked me.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
