Thread: Sound output problem in Oneiric

(reposted sound troubleshooting sticky)

hi, i'm running 11.10 on panasonic cf-30, , upgraded 11.04. however, i'm still quite new ubuntu, having migrated os x.

problem isn't sound drivers (tried that): sound in general fine. however, in 11.04 choose between 'analog output' , 'analog headphones' in output tab of sound control panel. after upgrading, option left 'analog headphones' controls both speaker , headphones. muting either headphones or front speaker in alsamixer result in killing sound altogether. of course ideal if os sense whether i've plugged in headphones , mute speaker then, live 11.04 solution of having choose sound output port.

appreciated, since i've run out of steam on own.

p.s. should mention uninstalled , re-installed pulseaudio after upgrading since continued crash. didn't make difference, though.
