External Lacie drive crashed, now I can't find a recent backup for LR3 catalog.

i have lr3 on mac running os 10.6.8.  catalog, cache , images stored on external lacie 1tb drive (partitioned can used pc , mac).  catalog backup files saved on external drive mxtr copies of images.  lacie had started self ejecting while running lr3 , thought maybe problem cable, work fine after rebooting.  yesterday crashed lr3 , never remounted.  used disk utility try , repair disk , instructed me erase disk , start over.  not worried, since catalog backed drive.  10 hours erase drive (the drive never quit during time).  2 hours copy images mxtr lacie (again drive never self ejected during time either).  go find recent backup catalog.  recent 1 find dated 2/09/2012.  baffled.  happened times backing up?  upgraded lr3 in 2011, , don't remember ever telling backup folder or drive.

any ideas problem may be?

what happened times backing up?

we can't possibly know happend or backups are. can indeed search of available hard disks , see if there files named *.lrcat recent dates.

by way, extremely wary of using lacie drive more. if me, i'd replace it.
