System slowing down and high memory usage

hi everyone

 

 

i’m running window 7 on i7-3770 16gb ram.

firefox 20.0.1

shockwave flash11.7.700.169

 

my problem memory usage when viewing flash content in firefox. 1 youtube video running, working set memory flashplayer plugin in windows task manager pretty stable @ around 100k.

 

physical memory, however, given @ bottom of task manager window, steadily increases, , after watching videos 2 hours has risen 70%-80%, causing windows slow down greatly.

 

after shutting down plugin in task manager ( takes minute or more) physical memory goes down around 17% , computer becomes usable again.

 

 

 

any idea what’s going on here? problem flash, ff, windows 7 or else?

are seeing other browser?  see if temporarily disable protected mode?

 

how troubleshoot flash player's protected mode firefox?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
