Thread: boot Windows from esata external

i set system can boot windows 7 external esata drive. have windows cd , drive connected, partitioned ntfs , not sure do. can't laptop (pan p7) boot cd. how do this?

your bios determines device computer boot. in bios, , tell try boot cd before tries hard drive.

alternatively, computers let choose when boot. try repeatedly pressing f12 while boot, , may offer mini-menu allowing boot cd.

computer manual should help.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
