Thread: Problem waking laptop from sleep

sorry if in wrong place.

have lenovo b570 laptop , have ubuntu 11.10 installed. problem when screen turned off through inactivity (set @ 10 minutes in settings), difficult reawaken laptop because there screen doesn't 'wake up' full brightness can re-enter password.

@ first thought screen black in fact laptop has turned brightness down lowest level if squint hard can see password entry dialog box. hardware brightness keys (fn + up/down) not work (though work fine in every other circumstance).

can unlock entering password 'blind' unlocks screen leaves brightness levels @ lowest possible, hardware brightness keys work. seems strange behaviour though. if normal lock screen (ctrl + alt + l) there no brightness problems must "turn screen off after 10 minutes"

have ideas, or have missed blindingly obvious setting! potential help

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
