Thread: Weird shared HP printer driver issue

i have 11.10 server set i'm trying set hp dj 960c share win clients. i've had other printers shared before without problem i'm not complete novice, i'm stumped.

what's happening printer prints fine server itself, no matter drivers try on server or client end, if try print black end win pcs either printing black , filling half page or full page color in black, it's not black. appears trying create black using colors. result dependent on drivers try.

maybe i'm missing basic here. should using other driver on server besides 1 printer? maybe generic client control it? i've been trying various cups drivers , hplip driver on server , either stock win (xp , 7) drivers or hp drivers hp on xp.

thoughts?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
