New to Elements - Save cutout and paste in different picture.

i new photoshop.  i'm trying save image able "cutout" 1 picture, want paste image onto different photo.  i'm learning layers (slowly...) , i've watched several tutorials.  i've seen/heard makes easy, i'm missing something.  been working on several evenings no luck.  using photoshop elements 11.   appreciate comments, links, ets.  in advance.

once have selection ready on first image,

 

use move tool (refer below screen shot moov tool) , drag selection first image secon image tab.

as place cursor on second image tab second image open , can place cutout on second image.

it create layer automatically.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
